About Mary!

Mary Goodney is a senior Music Education major at Miami University, graduating in the fall of 2025. During her time at Miami she has been a member of both the Miami University Chamber Singers, and the Choraliers, with whom she has traveled with to OMEA, and toured with in Italy. Mary has also developed her vocal skills through her participation in the summer voice program AIMS in Graz, Austria where she studied German Lieder and vocal technique. Mary studies voice with Dr. Alison Acord and Conducting under the direction of Dr. Reina Dickey.

Mary also has worked as a Choral Intern at Oxford Presbyterian Church where she leads the alto section in learning and performing weekly church anthems. Mary has taught drama and directed 4 musicals at Camp Livingston between 2021 and 2022, where she worked with children ages 5-17 to develop musical and artistic skills over the course of 4 weeks. She has experience working with many levels of choral ensembles, general education classrooms, and A cappella groups as well, providing her with a well rounded perspective and approach to music education and ensemble work.

Mary is a strong believer in individualized learning for students, and focuses her approach on teaching towards cultivating an appreciation for music on a personal level for every child. Teaching musical concepts through things each child is passionate about and providing them with an artistic outlet and education are things she values. Mary believes music and music education are important for a well rounded education and is an advocate for the arts within her community.
